Fuel
Oil Heaters
Warren Electric manufactures electric fuel oil heaters.
These fuel oil heaters are used to heat fuel oil to a desired temperature
before combusted in the furnace.
Maintaining oil temperature is necessary to ensure that complete
combustion occurs under optimal conditions, thereby reducing pollutants
and increasing efficiency.
WEC electric oil preheaters can be provided in a flange or screw
plug design. Thermostats are provided with or without interlocks.
Interlocks are used to prevent the oil pump from pumping cold, thick
oil into the furnace until the oil has been preheated to the required
temperature.
The heaters are designed with watt densities which vary in regards
to velocity of the oil. Heavy oil (#5 or #6 Bunker C) should operate
at a watt density of 8 to 12 watts per square inch, Medium oil (3
or #4) at a watt density of 15-18 watts per square inch and Light
oil (#1 or #2) at a watt density of 20-24 watts per square inch.
The most common element sheath for a fuel oil heater is steel with
direct immersion into the fuel oil.
