pressure regulators for sensitive and reliable control
of all your industrial processes. Without need for external power,
Robertshaw self-actuated regulators offer final control of the temperature
of a liquid, an air space or flow, or gas flow for domestic, equipment,
process, space, etc. on heating or cooling service. Using the power
generated from the process, Robertshaw self-actuated regulators
are simple, complete control units built to the highest quality
specifications to assure satisfactory service for many years.
Robertshaw pressure regulators include powerful 2-ply bellows or
rugged diaphragm actuators that provide control for pressure reducing,
pressure relief, and vacuum control. Thier temperature regulators
are available with any of three sizes of seamless metal bellows
actuators to ensure the correct combination of power, response speed
and stability.
Choosing the Right Regulator
Robertshaw reguators come in numerous sizes up to 6 inch ports;
with direct, reverse, or three-way action;
and available in brass, steel, and stainless steel.
These options allows you to select a regulator that should suit
your application, and offer years of satisfactory service. To select
the most appropriate regulator to fit your needs, let us know 1)
what process the regulator is for, i.e., steam, water or other,
2) whether it is for heating or cooling, 3) the temperature you
want maintain, and 4) the required maximum flow.
The most important step in selecting the right regulator for your
application is to get the right size of valve. An undersized valve
will not yield enough flow, while an oversized valve will not give
proper control. To select the correct valve size:
1. Find the Cv (the engineering sizing coefficient) of the
valve. Calculate the required Cv using the formula: Cv=gpm of
water at 1 psi pressure drop.
2. Choose the proper valve according to the product specifications,
or reference the Control Valve Selection Guide.
3. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you have enough control,
a valve should be one to two sizes smaller than the pipe to which
it is being fitted.
What Types of Regulators Does Robertshaw Offer?
Robertshaw offers a selection of temperature regulator models based
on four different technology options: vapor-pressure,
solid-liquid filled, hot chamber and power pill
actuated. Vapor-pressure models are the most widely used because
of their expanded application limits. Some of the different temperature
regulator models available are:
a. Vapor-pressure: RT921 through RT1011 (heating,
cooling, mixing/diverting)
b. Solid-Liquid Fill: 908-A (cooling water regulator)
c. Hot Chamber: RT-200 Series (steam heating)
d. Power Pill: I-1284/I-1285 (3-way)

and offer improved means of monitoring heated liquid temperatures.
