Reboilers
We offer reboilers for anyone who doesn't have the space,
but is looking for more efficient heat transfer rates in their distillation
and other chemical processes. Anyone who has used Alfa Laval's plate
heat exchangers for a long period of time will tell you that the
advantages of the new compact heat exchanger technology more than
justify replacing the old conventional gasketed type heat exchanger.
Much smaller than you'd think, efficient and capable of withstanding
aggressive media, Alfa Laval's Compabloc has a lot to offer.
Reboilers may come in many designs and be used for different applications,
but they are often used to transfer enough energy to bring the liquid
at the bottom of distillation column to a boiling boint. Regarded
as a heat exchanger, a reboiler provides heat to the bottom of industrial
distillation and stripping columns in order to partially or completely
vaporize a liquid it receives from the bottom of the column. While
a condenser turns the vapour leaving the top of a distillation column
into a liquid, the reboiler is used to turn the liquid leaving the
bottom of a column into a vapour.
Alfa Laval's compabloc reboilers are best suited for handling applications
at higher pressures and temperatures. They are considered a reliable
alternative to the shell and tube heat exchangers that are used
to handle extremely contaminated water. Highly recommended for acrylic
acid and acrylates plants, these boilers can replace your traditional
shell and tube technology at a cost effective price.
We
offer two kinds of reboilers:
The Compabloc as a Reboiler: With its short flow path
and large cross-section, the Compabloc is a perfect thermosiphon
reboiler. Built around a pack of corrugated heat transfer plates
that creates a maximum of turbulence, the Compabloc can generate
a heat transfer coefficient that is two to four times greater than
in a shell and tube design. Since it only requires 25 to 50% of
the heat transfer area to do the same job as a shell and tube, it
can replace the much larger shell and tube and sitll provide the
same amount of energy to the process.
Spiral
Heat Exchangers: Save money, time and space with Alfa Laval's
new plate condenser. As a viable alternative to shell and tube condensers,
the AlfaVap will optimise all of your chemical processes. The world's
first plate condenser, the AlfaVap features a special corrugated
plate pattern that induces a high degree of turbulence, providing
substantially better heat transfer coefficients than conventional
shell-and-tube reboilers. AlfaVap is especially efficient at high
concentration and high viscosities, and can work with temperature
differences down to 3-4°C. This is a big advantage when AlfaVap
is used in TVR and MVR systems.
