Condensers, Evaporators, Reboilers and Liquid to Liquid Heat Exchangers

Condensers

 

Condensers - if you're thinking about replacing or upgrading your condensers, whether it be direct or indirect, there are a few options to consider. We offer six different condensing technologies, 1) the Compabloc™ condenser from Alfa Laval, 2) the AlfaCond, 3) the spiral condenser, 4) the traditional shell and tube design, 5) the plate and frame condenser and 6) graphite heat exchangers from SGL. While condensing duties in the chemical industry are traditionally carried out by the shell and tube design, its probably the hardest design to install on top of a distillation column because of its bulk and weight.

   

Evaporators

 

Evaporators - in chemical plants and refineries, heat exchangers are used as evaporators for distillation and stripping columns. Most evaporators are of the shell and tube heat exchanger type and normally steam is used as the heat source. We offer the AflaVap as an evaporator that will either partially or completely vaporize a liquid received from the bottom of the distillation column. With its special corrugated plate pattern to generate more turbulence, the AlfaVap provides much higher heat transfer coefficients than the conventional shell and tube evaporator.

   

Reboilers

 

Reboilers - in chemical plants and refineries, heat exchangers are used as reboilers for distillation and stripping columns. Most reboilers are of the shell and tube heat exchanger type and normally steam is used as the heat source. We offer two alteratives to the shell and tube design: 1) the Compabloc™ as a reboiler and 2) spiral heat exchangers that will either partially or completely vaporize a liquid received from the bottom of the distillation column.

Gasketed Plate and Frame Heat Exchangers - Gasketed plate heat exchangers (PHE) are a compact solution to almost all of your heat transfer needs. They provide for flexibility like no other heat exchanger in the industry today with a vast range of models with connection sizes ranging from 1" to 16".

AlfaNova all stainless steel brazed heat exchangers - As a gasket-free heat exchanger solution, the AlfaNova is perfect as an organic solvent/ solvent interchanger where the medium is too aggressive for gaskets. It can also be used as a heater or cooler when the temperature is too high or too low for gaskets. Additionally, AlfaNova can be used as a gas heater, gas cooler, condenser or reboiler.

Compabloc - The Compabloc™ from Alfa Laval offers one whole new dimension to your choice of liquid to liquid heat exchangers – a much smaller dimension. In a volume of just 3 cubic metres, the Compabloc™ offers a heat transfer area equivalent to the 1000 square metres found in a traditional shell-and-tube design. Compared to the conventional shell and tube design, the requires less space, a substantially lower investment and a minimum of maintenance without sacrificing reliability and safety.

AlfaRex High Pressure Plate Heat Exchangers - some typical applications in the chemical industry include the product of caustic soda, the heating and cooling duties in the evaporation of sodium hydroxide, the petrochemical industries, the production of various chemicals such as caprolactam, ethylene oxide and polyois, solvent recovery, reactor temperature control, batch heating and steam applications.

Spiral Heat Exchangers - The efficient performance of the Alfa Laval spiral heat exchanger makes it particularly suited for such liquid-to-liquid duties as: clogging slurries such as PVC slurries clogging particle-laden and fibrous media such as TMP condensate in pulp and paper production clogging and erosive media such as alumina hydrate slurries fouling media such as waster water / sewage sludge high-viscosity media such as heavy oil non-Newtonian fluids such as fermenting broth in pharmaceuticals processing high-temperature fluids with a close temperature approach such as vegetable oil Black liquor heaters

Doyle & Roth - Doyle & Roth heat exchangers have been used as vent condensers for the pharmacetical industry, as a condenser for nuclear reactors, and feed and reactor heaters fo the petrochemical industry.

AIC Shell & Coil Stainless Steel Heat Exchangers - are compact and highly efficient shell and tube solution for many chemical applications. With its unique vertical shape, the AIC shell and coil heat exchanger comes in many configurations making it easy to install in difficult areas. It can be used with a wide range pressures, temperatures and flows. Requires very little maintenance and the helically corrugated tubes promote turbulent fluid flow reducing the amount of scale buildup and fouling.

SGL Graphite Heat Exchangers - SGL shell and tube heat exchangers are used as heaters, coolers, condensers, falling-film coolers, evaporators and absorbers, especially in the treatment of: hydrolic acid, sulphur acid, hydroflouric acid, phospheric acid, chlorinated acid, organic and inorganic media, waste acids, and combustion gases.

Flow Control and Steam Handling
Valves and Steam Traps

CheckAll Check Valves - are non-return valves suitable for chemical applications where the prevention of flow reversal is required. Check valves can be supplied in wafer or full body, cast, fabricated or forged body designs for high pressure applications or lined to meet specific requirements within the chemical industry.

Robertshaw Control Valves - are used for control in light industrial applications such as low-pressure steam, water, or air. A great number of applications exist for virtually any type of wet process including pigment and dye machinery, commercial buildings, natural gas pipelines, food and beverage, etc.

Gestra High Pressure Shut Off Valves - The Gestra ZK 29 control valve is used mainly for cutting off and/or regulating the flow of fluids consisting of water, steam, or steam condensate. Its use is permissible only within the allowable limits of pressure and temperature and only if the chemical and corrosive influences on the pressure equipment are taken into account. The control valve ZK 29 is used to reduce large differential pressures. It is used mainly in chemical industrial plants and power stations in which ease of maintenance and high resistance to wear are required.

Gestra Steam Traps - Gestra steam traps are used in the chemical industry wherever steam is generated, used and distributed.

Callidus Flares - Callidus flare systems are widely used in hydrocarbon processing, refining, petrochemical and steel industries. Some of the flares they offer are: Multipoint smokeless flares, Steam smokeless flares, Ultra low-noise steam flares and Air assisted flares.

Tulsa Fired Heaters - Typical applications of the Tulsa fired heaters include crude heaters, vacuum heaters, hot oil heaters, regeneration gas heaters, reactor feed heaters, reboilers, multi-cell reformers, delayed cokers & visbreakers, air preheat systems.

Shell and Tube Cleaning - Through our partnership with Conco Systems, we are capable of performing Heat Exchanger Cleaning, Leak Detection and Eddy Current Testing with the appropriate certification in areas the chemcial industry.

Plate and Frame Heat Exchanger Cleaning - Reconditioning plate heat exchangers is a method of renewing the efficiency and like of a plate heat exchanger. We offer the most comprehensive reconditioning service to the chemical industry.
