Alfa
Laval's ViscoLine Series
Alfa Laval offers a full range of tubular heat exchangers
called the ViscoLine Series. This series of heat exchangers is a
highly efficient tubular heat exchanger that uses corrugated tubes
or other advanced profiles designed to increase turbulence. This
means a substantially high rate of heat transfer (a higher l heat
transfer coefficient). Higher turbulence reduces the formation of
any fouling layers on the inner tube surfaces, and keeps the inner
tube clean.
The
Annular Unit
The ViscoLine Annular Unit is ideal for heating, cooling and pasteurization
of products with high viscosity, and products that contain particulates.
A tube in tube heat exchanger that is highly suitable for aseptic
applications with steam purge and leak detectors. Ideal for food
products that are lowacid, such as tomato concentrate, banana paste,
sourdough, chocolate sauce, mayonnaise, malt extract and tomato-based
sauces in general.
Annular models are used at higher viscosity levels where it is
necessary to apply heat to the product from both the inside and
the outside at the same time, in order to prevent layering. In this
tube-in-tube-in-tube model, the product flows between the inner
and middle tube.
The
Multitube Unit
The ViscoLine Multitube Unit is one of the most widely used thermal
solution for viscous food. An ideal unit for heating, cooling and
pasteurizing products with low and average viscosity, and products
that contain fibres and small particulates. The tube plates have
a conic tube hole to ease the flow of the product inside the tubes.
These units are used in conjunction with a wide range of products,
including milk, water, yellow fats, whole egg, egg white, egg yolk,
fruit purée, baby food, many kinds of fruit juices containing pulp,
fruit concentrates, beer mash, tomato juice and nectar, protein
solutions, yeast and soft drinks.
The
Monotube Unit
Products with low or average viscosity and also containing fibres,
particles and particulates are often best heated or cooled with
the ViscoLine Monotube, a tube-in-tube heat exchanger, where the
the product medium flows inside the tube, and the service medium
flows around it in a countercurrent direction. These units are most
commonly used for fruit pulp, grape mash, wine must, fruit slurry,
starch, diced tomato, diced vegetable and diced fruits, as well
as sauces and soups that contain particles.
Monotube installations are most frequently used for heat-treating
products that contain large particles, or have a high pulp or fibre
content. The Monotube heat exchanger consists of a single tube mounted
inside an outer shell.
The
Multipass Unit
The ViscoLine MultiPass Unit is ideal for small flows and for the
heating, cooling and pasteurization of products with low and average
viscosity and that also contains fibres and small particulates.
Bundles of tubes mounted in an outer shell the tubes in the multi
pass unit can be arranged to allow two, three and six passes inside
the shell by means of flow distribution headers at each end of the
unit. Download the full data sheet to the right.
The
Regenerator Unit
Specially designed for product-to-product heat exchange (recovery)
the ViscoLine Regenerator Unit will save your energy requirements
by transferring heat from the newly sterilized food product to the
soon to be sterilized product.
The ViscoLine Regenerator Unit consists of a removable bundle of
tubes mounted inside an outer shell, and welded onto tube plates
at both ends. The sterilized product flows inside the bundled tubes,
and the non-sterilized product outside, in counter-current flow.
All tubes are connected in parallel.
The product flows counter-currently in the tubes and the media
shell. This makes it possible to conduct product to- product regeneration.
The ViscoLine Regenerator Unit consists of a removable bundle of
tubes mounted inside an outer shell, and welded onto tube plates
at both ends.
